It’s Halloween — of course it’s time to dance!

Filed under: Local news, fun and frolic — strategerie @ 8:25 am

It’s a dead man’s party
Who could ask for more
Everybody’s comin’, leave your body at the door
Leave your body and soul at the door…

The Dauphin does not dress up. I am going as a Seahawks fan. How this is different than any other day of the year is a good question, but right now, I’d better rush off to the store to make sure we have enough candy for the kiddies visiting later!

Happy Halloween!

Samantha Bee of “The Daily Show” makes John McCain her — well, this is a family blog, isn’t it?

Filed under: politics, rants — strategerie @ 9:57 am

I have a confession to make. Actually, I believe I’ve said it here before, but I don’t mind repeating it: “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report” are my favorite television programs. The Dauphin has to endure the hoots of laughter and applause from the family room several nights a week between 8 and 9 p.m. Pacific. Mostly, he’s a good sport about it. (He’d rather be watching Speed Network, Animal Planet, or that guy who’s now locating people on WE.)

Without further ado, last night was another moment of brilliance for Samantha Bee, Jon Stewart, and the gift that keeps on giving: Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign. Tonight, we’re addressing the use of air quotes.

Warning: Not Safe For Work. Graphic language. If you’re under eighteen, perhaps inappropriate. At the same time, Ms. Bee skewers McCain’s dismissal of “women’s health”. I’m hoping that Senator McCain won’t be burdened by that (air quotes) “women’s vote” (end air quotes). After all, he wouldn’t be interested, would he?

Samantha Bee, I heart you.

Jamie Moyer pitched for the Seattle Mariners for years. We are so excited for him tonight!

Jamie, Seattle still loves you! We hope you’re enjoying every second of this, because YOU deserve it!

Congratulations to Jamie, and to the Phillies! Wooo-hoooo! (I’ll bet my friend Pattie, the Phillies fan, is beside herself, too!)

Patrick Kerney is probably not playing this Sunday? This is a DISASTER.

Filed under: Local news, football — strategerie @ 1:55 pm

Aaron, meet Patrick

Photo: Seattle Times

As the president for life of the unauthorized Patrick Kerney Fan Club, (I’m going to have to shorten this to some kind of acronym, or I’ll end up with carpal tunnel, won’t I?) I was distressed to read a few minutes ago at http://www.seahawkaddicts.com that my favorite defensive end had an injury last Sunday that will most likely prevent him from playing this Sunday against the Eagles.

I’d like to make one thing clear as well: Contrary to popular belief, he did not sustain this injury running away from me.

Back to the football news. If we ever needed his help, it’s Sunday. I have to believe, though, that the rest of my defense is going to come through. After all, they’re at Qwest, the loudest stadium in the NFL. If not, just glimpsing him on the sidelines is sure to terrify the Eagles.

Get well soon, Patrick! (sniff!)

p.s. Guys: You are still the defense for my fantasy team. Let’s just say I’m hoping for a few fumbles, maybe an interception or two, and of course, I’m always happy when you score! Just a thought.

Oscar the Cat: It’s cold. Who turned down the thermostat?

Filed under: Local news, cat blogging, fun and frolic — strategerie @ 10:41 am

My human, Strategerie, is still mad because I woke her up yesterday morning. I’ve learned how to shut off her CPAP machine. I find this particularly effective when my food bowl is getting empty. Plus, it was time for her to get up, anyway. Does it matter that it was still dark outside?

It’s cold in our house today. My brother, Mojo, and I are attempting to sleep on her desk. If she’d put that storyboarding thing she uses while she’s working on the floor, things would be a lot easier.

I saw that eTrade commercial last night with the baby who has a BlackBerry. I need one of those. Imagine how much more I could post on this blog if I had one. That whole thing about needing opposing thumbs to type? Get real.

It’s time for a little grooming. After all, I have to uphold my Quadruple Grand Champion image.

See you later!

Oscar

“Whether it’s rain or sleet or snow, we are going to go out and we’re going to vote”

“When it’s cold, when it’s raining, when it’s hard — that’s when we stand up,” he said. “That’s when we search for a better future.”

Senator Obama doesn’t let a little freezing rain scare him off the campaign trail in Pennsylvania this morning.

Thanks to the miracle of absentee voting, The Dauphin and I have already cast our votes for the next President of the United States. Join us!

Tracy of the “Foreclosure Angel” story speaks

Filed under: moments of grace — strategerie @ 9:09 am

I got a very nice e-mail yesterday from Tracy’s niece. Tracy was reading the comments on my blog! I asked her if she’d like to make a little statement, so here it is.

Marilin has not only givin me back my home but given me back my faith in humanity and changed my perception on life, Words can’t begin to describe what I’m feeling. She made me become a better person inside. I only hope that i can spread the amount of generosity and kindness that she has shared with me. Just goes to show never loose faith and never give up hope. GOD BLESS YOU MARILIN! Thank you for everything you’ve done for me and my family. I don’t know how we could ever possibly repay u. Karma is a powerful thing, i know we will definitely pay it forward.

~Tracy

Tracy, if you’d like to put a contact e-mail address in the comments, I’ll bet there’s a lot of people that would like to share your happiness! Thanks again for visiting my blog.

Are you male? Are you single? Do you love women? How about football? Amy Borkowsky is the woman for you!

Filed under: Uncategorized — strategerie @ 8:20 am

Amy Borkowsky is looking for you!

http://www.superbowlsinglegirl.com/

Okay. I realize I am a big sucker for a happy ending. I’m a romance author. We specialize in them! This story will warm the heart of every woman, though, that wonders where Mr. Right might have been hiding himself all these years.

Amy Borkowsky would like to meet a nice man and settle down. So far, though, she just hasn’t met the right one. Instead of crying into a Terrible Towel, though, she’s taking action! She’s trying to raise three million dollars to buy an ad during the upcoming Super Bowl broadcast to further her quest. As a former single girl, I think this is amazing!

Along with lots of other media outlets, I’m offering the soapbox of The Little Pink Clubhouse to her. I want her to have that happy ending, too. (Right after that, I have a girlfriend who is such a sweetheart, and she needs a guy. Maybe one of the guys that responds to Amy might like her, huh?)

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/27372395#27366604

How many millions of men watch the Super Bowl every year? How many of those guys, if not single and looking, have buddies that are? Who wouldn’t fall in love with a woman who had the courage to put herself out there and say she’d like to find someone great to settle down with? She says she’s thrown her list out the window, so I’m thinking that maybe, just maybe, Mr. Right resides in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. He’s a programmer at Microsoft, or works at REI. Maybe he works in one of the larger law firms downtown. He likes to drink microbrewery beer and hang out at Safeco or Qwest Field on sunny days. Whomever he is or whatever he does, if he reads The Little Pink Clubhouse, I hope he’ll contact Amy!

Amy, I am hoping the perfect guy materializes long before the Super Bowl. I also hope he’s everything you wished for!

Hey, Prince Charming, the white courtesy phone’s for you!

p.s. Amy: I think Ben Roethlisberger of the Steelers is single. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Roethlisberger He used to be a big daredevil, but I think he may have scaled back!

Patrick Kerney and Julian Peterson of the Seattle Seahawks make my day!

Filed under: Local news, football, fun and frolic — strategerie @ 7:51 pm

Yes, I am a fangirl, but I’m sure they heard me screaming with joy all the way in San Francisco this afternoon!

Obviously, the above is from FOX Sports, via www.seahawks.com.

Yaaaaaaay, guys, and go get ‘em next week, too!

p.s. Leonard Weaver, where have you been all my life, huh? ;-) Nice neon green shoes, buddy!

Marilyn Mock for President, or Foreclosure Angel

Filed under: moments of grace — strategerie @ 12:44 pm

I defy anyone to watch the following and not cry.

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2008/10/26/diaz.tx.foreclosure.angel.wfaa

Marilyn Mock went to a foreclosure auction. She met Tracy, a woman whose house was being auctioned. Tracy was there to say goodbye. Tracy’s house wasn’t a palace, but she loved it. She most likely was caught in the same net as hundreds of thousands of other homeowners whose dream of homeownership turned into a nightmare.

Ms. Mock bought Tracy’s house. She gave it back to her.

There are no words for this kind of generosity. Let’s face it: I’d rather watch something like this than “Extreme Home Makeover”. One more family has a home, and one more person has gone out of her way to help a complete stranger. This reminds me of my Bible college past. Sometimes, one entertains angels unaware.

Thank you, Ms. Mock. Tracy, I hope this is a new start.
