One of the greater joys of life is when something wonderful happens to a friend, and this morning, we’re celebrating! My friend Kristan e-mailed me a little after 8 a.m. our time with the news that she’s been nominated for the Romance Writers of America’s RITA award!
Quick and dirty explanation for those who aren’t sure what this is: The Golden Heart (unpublished authors,) and the RITA (published) are the Academy Awards of the romance industry. It is a BIG deal to be nominated for one of these; you are judged and voted on by your peers, and the hardware will be handed out at the RWA national conference in San Francisco this July. The notification phone calls started this morning and continue till everyone who’s up for either award gets a call.
To say that I am happy for her is an understatement. I am SOOOO thrilled that she is getting the recognition she deserves, because her books are outstanding.
Yaaaaay, Kristan! There’s much jumping up and down (and even a few happy tears for you!) on the Left Coast!
Love,
-S
p.s. If you’d like to keep track of the “unofficial” tallies, please go to either http://www.theunofficiallist.blogspot.com/ or http://judifennell.wordpress.com/2008/03/25/the-golden-heart-calls-go-out-today/. Woo-hoo!
So, was Blitzing Emily up for a Golden Heart?
Speaking of Emily, where are we at? I’m wanting to read that story!

leinie, yeah, I submitted “Blitzing Emily”, but so far, no phone call! Don’t they have any love for my wonderful book?!?
I’m still editing, but I’m in the final stretch. I’m soooo happy. Plus, I started writing another book. I’m at page 70 or so. It has to be done before I go to National, so I’ll be workin’ away on it!
How are you doing?
