Break out the Barry White CD’s and chill the champagne: It’s Global Orgasm Day!

Filed under: Uncategorized — strategerie @ 8:43 pm

The Little Pink Clubhouse is forced – forced – to report the following as a public service.

December 22nd is Global Orgasm Day. The organizers encourage all of us to indulge, and concentrate on world peace while doing so. (I’d love to say that I have that much multitasking ability, but we’re not talking about me right now, are we?) If you’d like to find the exact moment over the next twenty-four hours that you can do your part, please go to http://www.globalorgasm.org/

I’d love to stick around for this momentous occasion, but our chance to participate arrives at 10:08 p.m. tonight, and I — well, The Dauphin and I will be unavailable.

Have fun!

Comedy Central orders Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert back to work January 7th

Hmmm. It’ll be interesting to see how “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report” functions without writers, won’t it? I might also mention that Mr. Stewart and Mr. Colbert are evidently both members of the WGA as well. Firedoglake is offering the opportunity for those who support the striking members of the WGA to sign a petition to the ownership of Comedy Central with their comments.

I’m also wondering to myself why Sumner Redstone and whomever is responsible for this position seems to believe that the brilliant minds that created the two shows referenced above will not also use those shows to advance the position of the strikers at Comedy Central’s expense. Let’s face it, Mr. Redstone — “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report” are the two most popular programs in your lineup. Do you honestly believe that Showtime or HBO would not JUMP at the chance to sign either one to a long-term contract? HBO, for instance, would bolster their sagging lineup (and mollify their angry subscribers,) with the stroke of a pen.

Go back to the table and work it out with the WGA. This isn’t going away, and your revenues are tanking as I write. Forcing Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert into an unwinnable situation will not help you.
